Two answers matter more than the rest. First, no evening tour runs after the museum closes: the Louvre is open to everyone until 9pm on Wednesdays and Fridays, and a guided evening happens in those quieter hours. Second, the ticket is already in every fare, so you do not need to buy one as well.
After that, it is the meeting point. Three different spots are used, a short walk apart, so check the one your booking names and be there ten minutes early.
Is the museum open in the evening?
Yes, until 9pm on Wednesdays and Fridays. Last entry is at 8pm and the rooms start clearing at 8:30pm. On Mondays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays it closes at 6pm, and it is closed every Tuesday.
Does a Louvre night tour run after the museum closes?
No. Every evening tour runs while the museum is open to the public, on a Wednesday or Friday late opening or in the last hours of an ordinary day. The evening is quieter than midday, not empty, so expect other visitors at the famous works.
How much does a Louvre night tour cost?
Tours in a group of up to six cost $170.67 and $175.22 a person. Private tours run from $295.83 to $360.90 a person for a party of two, and the per-person fare falls as your group grows. The museum ticket is in every fare.
Is the museum ticket included in the fare?
Yes, in every tour listed here, with your entry time slot booked for you. On the private family tour the fare covers the adults' tickets, and children under 18 enter the museum free anyway.
How much is a Louvre ticket in 2026?
Since 14 January 2026 the museum charges €22 for citizens and residents of the European Economic Area and €32 for everyone else. Under-18s go free, as do EEA residents under 26 and disabled visitors with one companion.
Can I cancel and get my money back?
Yes: every tour here refunds in full if you cancel at least 24 hours before the start. The museum's own timed tickets, bought separately, cannot be refunded or changed.
Where do the evening tours start?
Depending on the tour, at the equestrian statue of Louis XIV beside the glass Pyramid, at the Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel, or at the Palais-Royal – Musée du Louvre metro exit on rue de Rivoli. Your confirmation names the spot; arrive 10 to 15 minutes early.
What time do the evening tours start?
The private evening tour from the Arc du Carrousel starts at 6pm, and the private family tour at 5:30pm. The others show their start times when you choose a date, so pick a Wednesday or Friday slot if the evening is the point.
Will I see the Mona Lisa?
Every guided route here heads for the Mona Lisa in the Denon wing, and guides know the quickest way to the front of the crowd. Rooms can close without notice and works can be lent or restored, so no tour can promise a single painting.
Is it dark when the Louvre closes?
From about late September to March, yes: the sun has set well before 9pm and you walk out to the Pyramid lit up. From April to August the sun sets around or after closing, so you leave in daylight or dusk.
Are evening tours good for children?
The private family tour starts at 5:30pm and uses games and quizzes to keep children going. Under-18s enter the museum free, and a private guide can set the pace for a young child.
Is entry free on the first Friday of the month?
Yes, after 6pm for everyone, except in July and August. The first Friday of January 2027 is 1 January, a closed day. Expect those evenings to be busy.
Can I stay in the museum after the tour?
Yes, where your guide leaves you inside: the private late-opening tour and the family tour both end in the galleries, so you can explore until the rooms clear. Any exit from the museum is final.
What bag can I bring into the Louvre?
Nothing larger than 55 × 35 × 20 cm, and no suitcases. Free lockers under the Pyramid take anything bigger and are emptied the same day.
Are the tours wheelchair accessible?
The private tours from the Arc du Carrousel and the horse statue list wheelchair access, and the museum lends wheelchairs free at its assistance desk. The small-group tour from the Palais-Royal metro exit says it is not suitable for wheelchair users.
Does the museum run its own evening tour?
Yes. Its highlights tour in English runs on Fridays at 6pm and 7pm, lasts about 90 minutes and costs €12 on top of admission, in a group run by the museum. It is the cheapest guided evening you can have.
When is the last entry on a late night?
8pm on Wednesdays and Fridays, one hour before closing. Rooms start clearing at 8:30pm, so a tour starting after 7pm leaves you little time to stay on.
Which evening is better, Wednesday or Friday?
Both close at 9pm. Friday adds the museum's own 6pm and 7pm tours and, once a month outside July and August, free entry after 6pm, which also brings bigger crowds.
Is the Louvre crowded in the evening?
Less than at midday, and the rooms away from the Mona Lisa can feel calm. Travellers still describe a crowd at the famous works, so expect company rather than empty galleries.
How long does a Louvre night tour last?
Two hours for most, with one private tour of three hours. The walk in and the security check come out of that time, so allow for them.
Which entrance do evening tours use?
Usually the Pyramid, or the Carrousel entrance at 99 rue de Rivoli. On a late night the Porte des Lions shuts at 6pm, and the Passage Richelieu stops taking groups at 7:30pm.
Can I take photos inside?
Yes, for personal use, in the permanent collections. Flash, selfie sticks and lighting are not allowed, and some works in temporary exhibitions may not be photographed.
Is the audio guide a good alternative?
It costs €6, is sold only on site on the day, and comes in French, English and Spanish. It gives you the facts but not a route, and a guide also knows where the queues are.
Are the tours in English?
Yes, all of them. The private tour from the horse statue with eight guiding languages also offers Chinese, French, German and Italian, among others.
Is there a minimum number of travellers?
The private three-hour evening tour needs at least two travellers, and the family tour is priced for two adults and a child. The small-group tours take bookings for one.
How many people are in a small group?
Up to six guests with one licensed guide. The private tours take your own party only, up to six on most listings.
How early should I arrive?
10 to 15 minutes before the start. Some travellers who came late, or went to the wrong side of the arch, spent a quarter of an hour looking for their guide.
Do I need to print my ticket?
No: every tour here sends a mobile ticket. Keep your phone charged, because the guide checks the booking at the meeting point.
What if a room on the route is closed?
The museum publishes its room closures week by week, and they change with staffing and weather. Your guide will reroute; check the schedule on the museum's website the day before if one work matters to you.
Can I book a tour on the same day?
Only if a slot is left. The late-night slots fill first, so book a few days ahead for a Wednesday or Friday.
Is the museum air-conditioned?
Not everywhere, and the upper galleries can be warm on a summer evening. Bring a bottle of water in your bag; you cannot drink in the rooms, but you can on the benches in the halls.
Can I eat in the museum?
Not in the galleries. There are cafés under the Pyramid, and Café Marly sits under the arcades facing the Cour Napoléon.
Do I tip the guide?
Tips are not included in any fare here, so it is your call. If your guide made the evening, a tip at the end is welcome.
Is the Louvre open on public holidays?
Yes, except on 1 January, 1 May and 25 December. A holiday that falls on a Tuesday is closed too, because Tuesday is the weekly closing day.
Is there a Louvre night tour with wine tasting?
No tour here includes wine or any food and drink. Plan a drink after 9pm instead: the cafés under the arcades and around the Palais-Royal stay open after the museum closes.
